The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) is the entity that handles the distribution of electricity and water to the Northern Emirates, such as Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. ABOUT FEDERAL ELECTRICITY AND WATER AUTHORITY
Established in 1999, FEWA caters to the electricity and water needs of the citizens and residents of the Northern Emirates in the UAE.
This authority is tasked with balancing the cost of production and distribution, studying consumption behaviour and raising awareness about the waste of electricity and water.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A NEW FEWA CONNECTION

If you are planning to move to an apartment for rent in Ras Al Khaimah or a property in any of the Northern Emirates, one of the first tasks you’ll need to take care of is activating your electricity and water service. Fortunately, the process to set up a new FEWA connection is simple and affordable. If you’ve ever wondered, ‘How do I activate FEWA online’, take a look at the steps below:
Register your account on the official FEWA website
Under the ‘Services’ tab, select Customer in the ‘E-services’ section
Choose New Consumer Service Activation
Fill out the online application form and attach the required documents
You will receive approval for your application within 24 hours, and your electricity and water will be activated within another 24 hours.
You will also have six days after the approval of your application to pay your deposit online. For those who want to know ‘How much is the FEWA deposit’, this amount will either be AED 1,500 or AED 2,000.
However, there is no service activation cost when applying online. The service is completely free.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR FEWA CONNECTION :
To activate your electricity and water service, you will need the following documents:
Copy of Emirates ID (Front and back)
Tenancy contract, approved by the municipality (for tenants)
Title or ownership deed (for owners)
Please upload all documents in PDF format when submitting the application.
HOW TO PAY YOUR FEWA BILL ONLINE :
There are multiple ways to view and pay your FEWA bills, which include the following methods:

Visit the official FEWA website
Under the ‘Services’ tab, select ‘View and Pay Your Bill’
Enter your account number, mobile number and email address
You can then view your bill online and then make the payment via credit card as well through the website.
Another method for FEWA bill inquiry and payment is through the app. You can pay your bill through the app using the steps below:
Download the FEWA app
On the main page, select ‘View and Pay Your Bill’
Enter your account number
This will display your bill, which you can then pay through the app. These are the two methods for FEWA bill payment online.
KIOSKS

There are kiosks located in major malls, hypermarkets and petrol stations where you can pay your electricity and water bill
You can make the payment for your monthly bill through kiosk machines that are located throughout all the emirates in the UAE.

Another one of the FEWA bill payment options is through online banking services for certain banks, including:

You can also pay your electricity and water bill through Al Ansari Exchange, Al Fardan Exchange and the UAE Exchange.
They also provide a ‘Green Bill’ by emailing customers their monthly electricity and water bill to reduce paper consumption.
When making your FEWA bill payments using a credit card, there are certain things to keep in mind:
The maximum payment you can make through a credit card is AED 20,000
A maximum of five transactions are allowed in a day with a credit card
HOW TO DISCONNECT FEWA CONNECTION

The FEWA disconnection procedure online starts with applying for the clearance certificate through the website

Visit the official FEWA portal
After logging in, under the ‘Services’ tab, select Customer in the ‘E-services’ section
Choose Clearance Certificate (Move Out)
Apply for the Clearance Certificate
Once you have applied for the clearance certificate, your electricity and water connection will be disconnected after 24 hours. When you have cleared the outstanding amount, the certificate will be issued within three days.
The security deposit paid when applying for the connection will be refunded to your bank account. Alternatively, customers can collect their FEWA security deposit refund from Al Ansari Exchange in cash.
The process for FEWA disconnection is completely free through the online website.
However, the disconnection process can also be done at customer care centres. In this case, customers will need to bring along their Emirates ID and will be charged AED 50 as a service fee.

While you can avail of most services online, there are centres located in each of the Northern Emirates, that customers can visit to resolve any issues or concerns.
