The most beautiful building in the world": Dubai's Museum of the Future :
The Museum of the Future, which opened on February 25, envisions what the world could look like 50 years from today, with flying taxis, windfarms, and solar energy projects conducted in space.
The Museum of the Future has opened in Dubai. The seven-storey pillarless landmark has been described as ‘the most beautiful building in the world’.
Standing at 77 metres tall it features a stainless steel facade illuminated by 14000 metres of Arabic calligraphy.
The intellectual and scientific hub hopes to bring together the very best minds in science, technology and innovation and is poised to set and position Dubai as a testbed for emerging technologies and an exploration base for talents, inventors and creative professionals from all over the world.
Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology and Chairperson of the UAE Space Agency told Euronews how the museum along with Dubai’s existing industrial players, academic institutions and legislative fabric supports science technology.
“[It] provides the people element, which is the most important ingredient for innovation and development,” she said adding, “for us, it's a major ingredient in the development of the economy and the further diversification of the economy, and more importantly, for increasing the impact and outcomes from existing sectors of the economy.”
Is it really a museum?
A museum is traditionally a place or building where objects of historical, artistic or cultural interest are exhibited, preserved or studied. Rather than being a museum in the limited traditional sense, the Museum of the Future is more of a laboratory designed to foster innovation among leading scientists in the region and beyond. It is a living museum where content and exhibits will constantly be renewed, enhanced and enriched in keeping with the latest technological advancements.
